CG for Stock Footage is a site about being an artist in the field of CG and 3D working in the world of Stock footage which is mainly populated by traditional photographers.

I’ve been curious to find out if it reasonable to add stock content creation to my sources of income and see if one can actually make a decent living out of creating micro stock, and that exploration is what this website is all about.

There’s plenty of micro stock sites available these days to choose from, and iStockphoto ended up being my site of choice. I know many people decides to upload their portfolios to several of the micro stock sites out there, but I opted to be exclusive on iStockphoto alone. That was a decision I based on two reasons; spending less time uploading, maintaining and keywording my portfolio as I only have one site to care about and the other reason was that being exclusive on iStockphoto results in higher royalty percentage and some other extra bonuses.

Expect to see posts about my thoughts of being a CG artist in a mainly photo centric world, tips and techniques, the new images and videos I add to my stock portfolio, statistics of how the portfolio progress and other things concerning this subject and my goal to find out if one can make a living on micro stock royalties.

So other than this being a journal of my latest stock artwork I hope that some of my posts here will contain information that others in a similar position as me will find useful.
